Governor Onaga’s third visit to the U.S.

Governor Takeshi Onaga paid his third visit to Washington D.C. from January 31, 2017 to February 3, 2017 and met and talked with a total of 26 people, mainly from the Congressional Research Service, the U.S. Congress, the Department of State, and the Department of Defense. We believe that the understanding of Okinawa has deepened further as compared to the last two visits. We were able to have a lively question-and-answer session as well as discussions with the members of Congress.

In addition, we also explained our stance of continued opposition to the construction of a new base at Henoko, and the situation in Okinawa over the aforementioned issues.
